In the late Friday afternoon of this Friday, excavators began demolishing an old building, the former Libertas bus garage after Libertas Dubrovnik Ltd, city owned company for public transportation sold the area to Pemo Ltd, local supermarket chain a week ago.

Disbelief, sorrow, and sadness could be seen of the faces of citizens. Bus garage building has been a symbol of that neighbourhood for a hundred years and there were no indications it could be knocked down.

The administrative building 'Dubrovnik Electric Railways', was built in 1913 by the project of Prague based architect Václav Vytěžlava Chytrý and has represented an outstanding architectural and cultural value.
