STON Food Heritage of the Republic of Dubrovnik

A discussion on food heritage will be held at Veliki Kaštio in Ston on Saturday, 9 September at 6:30 pm. 

Kinookus Association, in cooperation with the Dubrovnik Development Agency DURA, has been awarded finances for the three-year European project Slow Food Central Europe: Culture, Heritage, Identity and Food, that aims to create a transnational model of evaluating the intangible food heritage.

What is the cultural food heritage and what are its current social and economic potentials; these are the questions to be answered by: Mia Hrnić, DURA project manager; Roman Ozimec, an expert for indigenous cultivars and breeds of Croatia; Valter Kožul, Head of the Institute for Marine and Coastal Research; Monika Prović, Project Leader for the project Days of Eels in Neretva River Region, and Marijeta Čalić, Coordinator of the Pelješac Varenik Presidium.

The discussion will be accompanied by tasting of the desserts from the times of the Republic of Dubrovnik that will be prepared by a young pastry chef from Dubrovnik Lucija Tomašić.
